California experiencing unusual weather patterns

World Today

Historic rainfall is battering California according to the U.S. National Weather Service. Southern parts of the state, including Los Angeles and San Diego, saw record rainfall for July following Hurricane Delores. Thunderstorms, hail and lightning continued Monday. But other parts of the state continue to struggle with a brutal four-year drought.
CCTV’s Mark Niu filed this report from California.

California reaches all-time rainfall records
More than a dozen cities in California have set all-time rainfall records for the month of July. Highly unusual given the state is suffering a historic drought and it rarely ever rains during the summer in California. The heavy storms took everyone by surprise and caused damage throughout the state, some extensive. This may be a preview of what’s to come if predictions are correct. CCTV’s May Lee filed this report.
