The lie of ‘jihad migration’: Extremists used fake videos to lure Chinese

Islamic Extremism

Xinjiang police say the majority of violence and terrorism-related criminal cases in the region are influenced by the concept of “Hijirat”, the so-called “Jihadi Migration.”

Religious extremism has grown more prevalent in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from the late 1980s and early 1990s. According to Chinese officials, separatists began fleeing China in 1996.

In collusion with international terrorist organizations, regional terrorist organizations including East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) have falsified religious doctrine, fabricated cases of religious persecution, and lied to their followers.

Using terrorist bases outside China, they have trained violent terrorists and planned and executed violent criminal activities within the country.

Recently, CCTV reporters interviewed several emigrants who have been repatriated to China. Their testimony, based on personal experience, confirms the truth of the so-called “Jihadi Migration”.

Terrorist organization uses fake videos to lure Chinese

The terrorist organization accused of recruiting Chinese citizens has been using fake videos to deceive people into joining their course, according to Xinjiang police.

Nearly all terrorists had listened to, watched, or transmitted audio and videos promoting violence and extremist ideas, said the police. Much of the material was made by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM).

However, the making of the extremist material, including the identities of those involved, is a mystery for most group members.

Merdan Mullaxun, an ETIM member, was assigned to the group’s propaganda office as an assistant after his leg was amputated. But he was still not allowed to see the finished products.

Merdan confessed that the videos are all fake. The military forces in the video are wearing fake camouflage jackets purchased online, and do not really exist. Meanwhile, the victories mentioned in the film aren’t what they seem either.

Arrested Chinese terrorists lack basic religious knowledge

A number of Chinese terror suspects lack the most basic religious knowledge, according to a leading Islamic expert. Deputy Secretary General of the Islamic Association of Xinjiang, Abduwayit Seydiwaqi, told CCTV NEWS that this makes them targets of propaganda.

Investigation found that the so-called ‘Jihadi Migration’ is one of the phrases used by terrorist group members to rally followers. ‘Hijra’ describes the 622 AD migration of persecuted Muslims under the leadership of Muhammad from Mecca to Medina. The event has been distorted by religious extremists and transformed into the ‘Jihadi Migration.’ But the Prophet never advocated violence emphasized Yan Shu, a counter-terrorism expert. “They copy the migration, but they invented this distortion of ‘Jihad,'” Yan said.

According to Islamic academic Abduwayit Seydiwaqi, arrested terrorists are now undergoing counseling to help them with their religious confusion. The UN Security Council passed a resolution in 2014, demanding that member countries take all possible measures to prevent domestic extremists or terrorists from travelling abroad to participate in violent terrorist activities. That is one task China is taking very seriously.
