Global Business

U.S. President Barack Obama has announced deep new cuts to curb greenhouse gas emissions for the next 15 years. The plan comes as more and more nations are pledging to reduce pollution ahead of the Paris climate talks later this year.

More details:

  • Coal provides power to two out of every five people around the world.
  • Across the United States, it’s also the biggest source of air pollution.
  • Now, Washington is requiring coal-fired power plants to cut emissions by 32 percent over 2005 levels by the year 2030 as part of a strategy to tackle climate change.
