Netanyahu fights Iran nuke deal via web address

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took his case against the Iran nuclear deal, directly to American Jews Tuesday.
CCTV America’s Jessica Stone filed this report from Washington.

In a 22-minute webcast, Netanyahu laid out his arguments against the agreement to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.
More than 10,000 people registered to hear his remarks, sending in nearly 3,000 questions. Only four of those questions were actually asked.

“If the U.S. Congress rejects this agreement, what are the alternatives to prevent Iran from reaching nuclear weapons capability?” asked Michael Segal of the American Jewish Federation.

“The best way to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons is not change. Increase the sanctions. Increase the pressure,” replied Netanyahu.
“Don’t prematurely give away the best leverage you have.”

Hours later, U.S. President Barack Obama met with a group of prominent U.S. Jews and Israeli-Americans at the White House.
Since the interim agreement with Iran was announced, the Obama administration has been holding conference calls and webcasts with the Jewish community.
In May of this year, Obama also spoke in a prominent Washington, D.C.-area synagogue.

White House outreach on the Iran nuclear deal did not include sending America’s top diplomat to Israel.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry only met with Egyptian and Gulf State leaders who share Israel’s concerns.
