A new peace initiative by the United Nations Security Council comes after the council hasn’t been able to agree on how to end the bloodshed in Syria after years of trying.

Now in a rare show of unity, a less contentious approach which has turned out to be more of a step-by-step endeavor. The show of unity and approach focuses on specific themes, rather than on formal peace talks, which appears to be intangible at this time for a plan for peace in Syria.
