There are wildfires in the western portion of the United States that have been burning for weeks. It is becoming a very intense wildfire season.

Now, the government is taking some unprecedented measures to contain the blaze. CCTV’s Ellen Scott filed this report.

More details:

  • Nearly 100 deadly wildfires are raging across the Western United States.
  • The drought conditions in parts, coupled with high winds and high temperatures are a recipe for disaster. The nearly 29,000 firefighters fighting the blaze can’t keep up with the fires because some are moving in multiple directions.
  • According to the U.S. Forest Service, more than $150 million dollars per week is being spent on fire suppression.
