Organic honey in Brazil increases in popularity

There are many rules to follow when it comes to producing organic honey. The bee farms have to be kept at a distance of at least three kilometers from any contaminants like non-organic land or factories.

Eliminating all the chemicals involved in conventional production adds some difficulties and challenges, but the payoff is that “organic” label which commands premium prices.
In 2014, Brazil exported a record 100 million dollars worth of honey and 30% of it was organic.

The president of the country’s honey industry says that they all have an interest in increasing exports with their honey because it commands a higher price on the international market. CCTV’s Paulo Cabral filed this report from Sao Paulo.
