It was a good day for global markets

China stocks managed to stop a five-day slide. The Shanghai Composite Index – the main benchmark for Chinese stocks – is up by over five percent. In Shenzhen, the other big mainland exchange, stocks climbed about three and a-half percent.

So did Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index. CCTV’s Roee Ruttenberg has more.


Sung Won Sohn on China’s economy

Dr. Sohn spoke with CCTV America to give a more in-depth look at the current economic situation in China. Sung Won Sohn is a Smith Professor of Economics at California State University CI and is Vice Chairman of the multinational retailer Forever 21. He serves on boards for companies that include Forever 21, Western Alliance Bancorporation and Claremont Graduate University. He was a commissioner at the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s largest port.
