The Lebanese government says it is taking steps to immediately collect rubbish that is piling up in Beirut. The streets outside the government’s offices are full of garbage and protesters.

The trash crisis underscores a deeper political problem plaguing the country of five million. Lebanon, marred by factional disputes, is repeatedly deadlocked on taking action on a broad range of matters including who will collect Beirut’s trash. CCTV’s Stephanie Freid filed this report from Beirut.
