Former Yazidi prisoners describe ISIL’s brutality

Last summer the world became familiar with a little-known minority in the Middle East, the Yazidis.

It was the Islamic State’s assault on the Yazidis at Mount Sinjar in Northwestern Iraq that made them known. The stories of abuse and rape are a reminder of why thousands are fleeing ISIL in Iraq and Syria, and seeking refuge in Europe.
