The search for extraterrestrial life in the universe received a dramatic boost when Russian billionaire Yuri Milner announced this summer he was donating 100 million dollars toward the cause.

The money is funding the biggest scientific search ever to attempt to answer the question: “Are We alone?”.

  • With the help of renowned scientist Stephen Hawking, Russian billionaire Yuri Millner announced the 100 million dollar project called ‘Breakthrough Listen’.
  • Breakthrough Listen will utilize the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia, and the Parkes Telescope in New South Wales, Australia
  • Much of the data will be collected and analyzed at the University of California Berkeley’s Search For Extraterrestrial Institute program known as SETI.
