  • In Tucuman in the north of Argentina, lemons are big business. This is the nursery for Argenti Lemon which accounts for around 10% of this region’s exports. But a complaint by California producers over health standards has prevented this region from exporting to the United States since 2001.
  • Argentina is appealing the export ban at the World Trade Organization, and recently won a ruling over similar restrictions on beef exports. In a separate case, Argentina has been given till the end of the year to lift import restrictions ruled unfair by the WTO, after a challenge by the US, the European Union and Japan.
