The European Union has called on Russia to stop bombing Western-backed rebels in Syria, which the bloc’s foreign ministers claim is jeopardizing peace efforts.
On Monday the EU also decided to play a much stronger role in the U.N.-brokered peace talks, but failed to agree on a role for president Bashar al-Assad in resolving the crisis.
