UN talk on Jerusalem violence yields little progress

World Today

A special meeting Friday at the United Nations was meant to discuss the ongoing problems between Israelis and Palestinians, although the Security Council became the center of much of the talking, and there was little action.

The council called an emergency session to help defuse the violence, but the Israeli and Palestinian delegates, both allowed to address to the Council, used the time instead to blame each other for the killings. As the Israeli and Palestinian broadsides make clear, Friday’s meeting became more of a chance to air grievances than an opportunity to find solutions.
