Another tragedy of the migrant crisis: Lesbos’ cemetery is full

World Today

The tragedy continues on the shores of Lesbos Island, where five more refugees, including two children, drowned Tuesday as they tried to cross from Turkey to Greece.

The island of Lesbos has seen a surge in refugee arrivals since the summer, most of whom are trying to escape war zones such as Syria to reach Europe. Many continue to perish in the Aegean Sea as they attempt the dangerous crossing, and the mayor of Lesbos has called for a three-day mourning for all those who have drowned at sea.

There is now no space left on the island’s main cemetery for their burial. CCTV America’s Filio Kontrafouri reports from Lesbos.
