Social media reacts to Chinese president’s G-20 address

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the Turkish coastal city of Antalya for the 10th summit of the Group of Twenty (G-20) on Sunday.

Addressing the leaders during the summit, Xi said that “China has the confidence and ability to sustain medium-high growth and continue to create development opportunities for other countries.”

He further stated that the Chinese economy is predicted to grow at about 7 percent this year.

During the two-day summit, President Xi has also attended the BRICS leaders’ meeting, pledging to share development opportunities and lift economic cooperation.

Xi also met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, with both leaders re-emphasizing the desire to enhance cooperation between their two countries.

Xi’s speech to the leaders has attracted much attention on social media in China and abroad, with netizens from around the world sharing their views on China’s international role.

Facebook user Tayyar Güneş from Turkey posted: “Welcome President Xi Jinping to Turkey, I hope everything you decided for the world should be well.”

Marvo Kuro from Nigeria commented: “It is clear. China is taking the center stage of the G20 economy.”

Nepalese user Padma Dhar Tuladhar wrote that “China is the country in the world who makes the people of the world prosperous and tried their best to pull up all to prosperity by ‘One Belt One Road’ campaign.”
