Smartphone controlled drones to hit the skies

French tech company Parrot is launching a new device that is looking to make drone flying easier than ever. The product comes at a time when regulators are still struggling to come up with the rules for the sky.

Parrot is viewed by many as one of the top three leaders in the increasingly crowded drone market.

At an event in San Francisco, Parrot unveiled the BeBop Drone 2. It’s a quad-copter with an HD camera that can be controlled by a smartphone.

When the drone hits something, a safety feature kicks in where the propellers immediately stop and it falls.

With strong power in the devices and a recent spate of drone mishaps, the United States’ aviation authority, the Federal Aviation Administration, recently convened a task force of tech companies to work on a proposal that would require drone owners to register their devices.
