Egypt to cooperate with Russia against terrorists

World Today

It has been nearly three weeks since a Russian passenger jet was brought down in Egypt, and Egypt’s government says it has yet to confirm Russia’s belief and ISIL’s claim that a bomb on board brought down the Metrojet passenger plane. Egypt’s government is ready to work with Moscow to fight terrorism, or so it says.

Egypt has been fighting ISIL-affiliated groups in the Sinai for months, and hundreds have been killed on both sides, but if the Russian passenger jet in question was really brought down by a small bomb, as ISIL claims, it’s stark evidence that Egypt needs to rethink its tactics.

Moscow has provided arms and money to Abdel El Sisi’s government, but now Putin has deployed special services to find those responsible for bringing down the Russian Metrojet passenger plane which killed more people than the Paris attacks. Russia has also put a $50-million bounty out for anyone that can help find those responsible.

CCTV America’s Adel El Mahrouky reports from Cairo.

Tony May on the explosive device suspected of downing Russia Metrojet aircraft in Sinai

It appeared to be a bomb made of simple items which ISIL claims caused the crash of a Russian plan in Egypt. It seems a new strategy for ISIL is keeping plans for acts of terror simple. For more on the tactics of this terror group, CCTV America’s Elaine Reyes spoke to Tony May in Phoenix, Arizona. May is the owner of ALM Security & Explosives Consulting.
