Environmentalists fighting Australia’s plan to build coal plant

Global Business

Environment advocates in Australia are taking their fight to federal court.

They argue plans to build the country’s largest coal mine would contribute to climate change and hurt a protected underwater treasure.  In August a federal court overturned government approval of the mine saying the government didn’t consider the impact to two threatened species.

Now the plan is back in court and the challenge this time is much broader to include the impact all of that coal will have on climate change.
CCTV America’s Greg Navarro reports.
