Peace talks have opened in Myanmar and government leaders are meeting with eight ethnic armed groups to end six-decades of conflict.

Some rebel groups refused to attend the talks, or sign a ceasefire agreement with the outgoing government. China’s special envoy on Asian affairs emphasized the importance of finding a solution.

CCTV America’s Mike Walter spoke with Priscilla Clapp, Senior Adviser to the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Asia Society, and also a former U.S. Chief of the Mission in Burma.
