The city of Detroit is synonymous with American car manufacturing, but despite a strong revival in the U.S. auto industry, Detroit no longer has the prestige it once had.

America’s Big Three automakers: Ford, General Motors and Chrysler still have their headquarters in Detroit, but much of their production and plants have moved to other parts of the U.S. or overseas.

So how connected is the city to the auto industry that made its name?
