Disney’s new resort in Shanghai, China is set to open on June 16 according to an announcement by the Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group.
The resort was originally scheduled to open in December of 2015, but was delayed as the developers decided to add more attractions.
As the only Disney theme park in the Chinese mainland, the 34-billion yuan ($5.5 billion) Shanghai resort will be Disney’s second-largest theme park in the world, second to the resort in Orlando, Florida in the U.S.
It will feature many attractions not found in the five other Disney resorts worldwide, which include ones based on Marvel comics and Star Wars and others inspired by Chinese culture.
“When it comes in June, the Shanghai Disney resort will be a one-of-a-kind, world-class destination that is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese,” Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Robert Iger said in a statement.
