World Health Organization to declare Africa Ebola-free

World Today

The World Health Organization will officially declare Africa free from the Ebola outbreak which has devastated many parts of West Africa.

The WHO will do this on Friday. Liberia is the last country to be declared free of the outbreak, and has been the worst-affected. Liberia hasn’t had a new case in six weeks.

The end of the Ebola epidemic in West Africa is clearly a big milestone.

CCTV America’s Asieh Namdar spoke to Stephen Morrison. He’s the director of a Global Health Policy Center in Washington.

At the time of this writing, AFP broke news that there was a suspected Ebola death in Sierra Leone. This could dramatically change the World Health Organization’s announcement on Friday. Stay with CCTV America for continued coverage.
