In China’s Shandong Province, a month-long rescue operation is on the verge of breaking through to the survivors of a mine collapse. The complexity of the operation has led to a slow rescue speed.

CCTV America’s Mike Walter spoke to Kim Redding, the president of N-Compliance Safety Services, a consulting company for the mining industry, and the co-founder of the Mine Safety Center. Redding discussed the difficulties rescuers may face, attempting to save trapped miners.
