With growing fear surrounding the spread of the Zika virus, “Americas Now” brings together CCTV correspondent’s from across Latin America to report on how South American countries are being affected by the epidemic.

They also tell us what’s being done to stop the transmission of the disease and what to expect next.

The Zika virus is transmitted through the bite of an Aedes mosquito. The virus originated in Uganda in 1947. Recently, Latin America has experienced a major outbreak.
