Siddiqui is the former editorial page editor for the Toronto Star, and he now writes a twice-weekly column for the paper.

For the Republicans, billionaire Donald Trump was the big winner with 35 percent of the vote, which was far ahead of second-place finisher John Kasich, at 16 percent.

Ted Cruz, the winner of last week’s Iowa caucus came in third place with about 12 percent of the vote.

On the Democratic side, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders trounced Hillary Clinton, winning with about 60 percent of the vote, while Clinton finished the night with just about 38 percent.
