US presidential candidates riding wave of first primary a day later

Candidates who have been branding themselves as anti-establishment in the U.S. presidential race scored big victories in the nation’s second nominating contest in the northeast U.S. state of New Hampshire this week.

Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders of the U.S. state of Vermont beat Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton by a wide margin.

For the Republicans, billionaire and U.S. pop culture figure Donald Trump was the winner with 35 percent of the vote, which was far ahead of second-place finisher John Kasich.
