Established in 1965, the small Los Angeles-based theater company has been called the nation’s premier Asian American theatre troupe. EWP was founded by nine Asian-American artists who were looking for more than stereotypical Asian roles in Hollywood. Today, diversity in the theater continues to be a goal the organization pursues.

“As a female, let alone as an ethnic female, there are not that many roles that you are going to get a chance to do in a lifetime,” said actress Kara Wang.
