At an event in Beijing on Monday, leaders from both the U.S. and China kicked off “U.S. China Tourism Year”, in what they hope will be a record-breaking year for travel.

The event was hosted by the group Brand USA, a public-private partnership responsible for launching the United States’ first-ever nationally coordinated tourism marketing effort.

The firm says it plans to enhance travelers’ experiences, increase cultural understanding, and expand appreciation for the natural landscapes in each country.
