Migrants block train tracks near Idomeni camp

World Today

Around 14,000 migrants and refugees on Saturday remained stranded at Idomeni, on Greece’s border with Macedonia.

Greek authorities are hoping to relocate the migrants and refugees, who staged a protest on a rail track by the camp, in the coming weeks.

Inhabitants of the over-crowded Idomeni camp sat across the track and held up makeshift signs calling on Macedonia to open its borders.

Greece’s borders were sealed off to migrants and refugees a week ago.

Since then, the number stranded in Greece has climbed to above 42,000.

CCTV’s Natalie Carney met with a young, newly-married Syrian couple waiting at the border crossing.
