In Brazil, the popular ex-president caught up in a corruption probe got a new job as the current president’s chief of staff. The move could help shield former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from possible prosecution.

CCTV’s Paulo Cabral reports from Sao Paulo.

Lula is being investigated in the Petrobras Corruption probe that’s already sent many business people and politicians to jail.

But cabinet ministers can only be investigated and tried at the Supreme Court. The action against Lula will be sent to the Supreme Court judges, where things are usually slower.

Before Lula starts working he’ll have to convince people that he isn’t taking the position only to get protection.
