The Heat: How the 2016 US presidential race is shaping up

The Heat

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and billionaire Donald Trump pulled ahead Tuesday after key primary wins in their respective parties in the U.S. presidential race, marking a significant turning point in the race for the White House.

Republican front-runner Donald Trump won big in three key U.S. primaries including the state of Florida, forcing U.S. Senator Marco Rubio to suspend his campaign.

Governor John Kasich won his home state of Ohio, while U.S. Senator Ted Cruz failed to make any significant gains.

On the Democratic side, front-runner Hillary Clinton enjoyed clear victories in four key states, increasing her lead over challenger Bernie Sanders.

Both Clinton and Trump also appeared to squeak out close victories in Missouri. CCTV America’s Jessica Stone reports from the White House.
