A suicide attack in the heart of Istanbul. Four are killed, in addition to the bomber, with more than 30 wounded.
This is a week after a bombing in Ankara killed dozens. CCTV’s Michal Bardavid reports.
Turkey, rocked by yet another suicide attack. This time in central Istanbul the country’s largest city. The location, Istiklal Street, a popular shopping district, frequented by tourists. Those who were killed included foreigners. There were dozens others wounded, mostly foreigners from Germany, Ireland, Iceland and Dubai.
No one has claimed responsibility so far, an investigation is underway. Local media reported a wanted Turkish citizen suspected to be a member of ISIL is the main suspect.
“Terror once again showed its ugly and heinous face, targeting civilians. Our fight against terrorism will continue with full force in and out of the country. And this is our expectation from the world, especially from Europe. We should act together in our fight against terrorism without buts,” said Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Turkish foreign minister.
This is the sixth suicide attack in Turkey since last July. Just last week a bombing killed 37 people in the country’s capital Ankara.
