Is boxing champion Manny Pacquiao finally hanging up his gloves?

He says so, but not everyone’s convinced. Whatever the Pacman’s final decision and what’s sure is that he will be remembered as one of the greatest boxers in the world.

CCTV’s Barnaby Lo reports.

The anticipation over last year’s mega-bout between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao was impossible to miss, especially in the Philippines. For millions of Filipinos and for Pacquiao himself, he was fighting for his country. It was a crushing defeat, but he remains a hero.

Pacquiao, also known as the Pacman, is the only boxer in history to have won titles in eight different weight divisions. He is known for his speed and a deadly left hand – one that’s knocked out some of the best fighters in the world.

Now he’s aiming to knock out opponents in the political ring, where it appears he has a fighting chance. Despite a storm of criticism over his anti-gay remarks in February, pre-election surveys show he could win a seat in the Senate. Thanks to an illustrious career and a rags-to-riches story.

Some analysts believe it’s a fight that could happen again. This, despite Mayweather’s retirement and Pacquiao saying his third fight against Timothy Bradley is going to be his last.
