A look at the first hijab-wearing woman on MasterChef

Nothing brings people together like good food and one amateur chef proves just that.

This woman is the first to compete on an American cooking show wearing a hijab, the Muslim head scarf.

CCTV America’s Hendrik Sybrandy reports from Denver.

Amanda Saab has been involved with food for as long as she can remember.

“I’ve been cooking with my ma and my grandma since I was three, four years old. I just remember being in the kitchen with my mom on a stepstool,” Saab said.

This social worker from Seattle, Washington was watching the competitive reality T.V. program MasterChef when she decided she should be on the show herself.

She ended up being eliminated from the show, but Amanda has achieved success in another area: introducing Middle Eastern food and culture to Americans.
