How do you get high school students to enjoy studying science? How about by giving them the parts to build a robot and then letting them compete against each other to see who builds the best “bot?”

Correspondent John Zarrella travels to a high school in Phoenix, Arizona that has become famous for constructing some of the best robots today. He speaks to teacher Faridodin Lajvardi, or “Fredi,” who builds the motivation of students by building the “bots.”

Carl Hayden High School’s student team called “Falcon Robotics” has won multiple tournaments competing against other high schools and universities. They even won a competition sponsored by NASA and beat prestigious university MIT.
