New Yorkers eager to weigh in on presidential campaign

New York is one of the biggest states in the U.S., but when it comes to voting in Presidential elections, it’s usually an afterthought.

But this year’s tight races for the Republican and Democratic nominations mean the state has a big influence, which is exciting to voters.

By the time the New York primary comes around, both parties’ candidates for president have already been chosen. But this time, there is real excitement in the air.

New York is a big state with a lot of votes and delegates at stake. While whoever wins here on Tuesday won’t lock up the U.S. presidential nomination, candidates who lose will find it much harder to be seen as viable contenders.

For New York supporters of democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, doing well in this state will mean slowing down former New York Senator and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

On the Republican side, a big win for native New Yorker Donald Trump could mean he wins all the delegates from this state and the stakes could not be higher.
