Ankur Patel discusses the upgrade to China & New Zealand’s free trade agreement

Traveling to New Zealand will become easier for Chinese tourists as the visa procedures will be simplified. It was announced during Prime Minister John Key’s visit to China.

Chinese visa applicants can pay their fees with UnionPay credit and debit cards. New Zealand will also provide Chinese services on its government services website.

China is New Zealand’s second largest tourist origin country. Chinese tourists last year spent around $1.1 billion there.

John Key is on a six day visit to China. Top of the agenda is upgrading the existing bilateral Free Trade Agreement.

The two sides on Monday signed agreements in agriculture, science and technology, quality inspection, and education.
