China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi traveled to Myanmar two weeks ago pledging friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Wang met with his Myanmar counterpart, Aung San Suu Kyi, the first visit he’s made since Myanmar’s president was sworn into office.

Myanmar is in a state of transition as it moves forward with its first elected government in more than 60 years.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit represented the latest step forward in a long friendship and comes at a time when Myanmar is undergoing a political transition.
