Art collective documents Mexico City’s murals

World Today

Mexico City has a long tradition of muralism from Diego Rivera to Jose Clemente Orozco. This art has found itself in the streets where hundreds of murals dot the city walls.

CCTV America’s Martin Markovits has this report.

Three years ago, the art cooperative Street Art Chilango began to document many of these works. The group also helps artists locate public walls where they can legally paint art and graffiti.

Through their walking tour and Facebook page, these murals have exposed these underground artists to a wider audience.

Street Art Chilango’s walking tour has also brought in thousands of people from all over the world to experience this art.
