Live streaming becoming increasingly popular online

Live streaming is taking the internet by storm. The streaming app Periscope launched just over a year ago and has already hosted over 200 million broadcasts. Facebook Live and Snapchat have also seen significant growth.

CCTV America’s Jim Spellman, Rachelle Akuffo, Elizabeth Shell, and Xiaolu Sun report (live!) from Washington D.C.

So far mostly sharing their everyday experiences, but more and more special events are being hosted on streaming apps. Here in the United States, the National Football League will stream ten games on Twitter this upcoming season. Political campaigns have begun using this tool as well.
