Hillary Clinton says, if elected president, she wants more Asian-Americans to serve in her administration. Wednesday night she spoke at the annual gala for the Asian-Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) here in Washington.

The APAICS Leadership Network announced that Secretary Hillary Clinton was confirmed as a guest speaker at the organization’s VIP Reception on Wednesday at the Washington Hilton. APAICS is organized for the purposes of promoting equal opportunity in the public sector and equal access to government to ensure that voices and opinions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and other disadvantaged communities, are heard in government and public forum.

The reception celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with guests including AAPI stakeholders, community and business leaders, and promotes future opportunities for AAPI leaders.

“We are very much looking forward to hosting Secretary Clinton, a proven leader who fights for all Americans, including minority communities,” Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA), chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and APAICS Leadership Network board member said. “Secretary Clinton has worked for decades on issues important to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and will continue to be a strong advocate for our communities.”

The APAICS Leadership Network said in its announcement that “Secretary Clinton’s commitment to the Asian American and Pacific Islander community is long-standing, and she shares our determination to increase AAPI political participation.”

At this point, APAICS is not endorsing any candidate for public office.
