Indian President visits China, pitches opportunities for nation’s investors

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is on a state visit to China. On Wednesday, Mukherjee pitched business opportunities in India to Chinese investors.

He made the comments while addressing the China-India Business Forum in the southern coastal city of Guangzhou.

CCTV’s Ge Yunfei report on the meeting.

At the India-China Business Forum, Mukherjee said more Chinese investment is needed in the sub-continental nation.

As the capital of Guangdong, the most populated and richest province in China, Guangzhou has some 5000 Indian businessmen, with more expected to come.

Many people here share the same view that a reformed India with its large, young population could replicate China’s success over the last several decades. But many agree that more information and efficiency is needed to ease investor concerns.

India is promoting its “Make in India” and “Digital India” strategies. President Mukherjee said he expects a more balanced Sino-Indian trade, which would see India’s IT services and pharmaceutical industry introduced to China.
