The Heat sat down with Nirupama Rao, India’s former foreign secretary and first female ambassador to China. We spoke with her about what she calls “unresolved problems” between the two countries, but we also had One More Question for her.

Anand Naidoo asked Rao her thoughts on Hillary Clinton and the possibility that the United States could have its first female president.

“I feel absolutely thrilled at the prospect of a woman president for the world’s most important democracy,” Rao said. “She is a great friend of the people and countries of our region.”

“I think she has great empathy for development issues, for gender-related issues, for the welfare of women – for their health and wellbeing, their education.”

“I think for women all over the world, especially for the young ones, this is going to be a source of tremendous inspiration,” she said.
