Protesters march against Keiko Fujimori before Peru’s presidential vote

It’s down to the wire in Peru for presidential candidates Keiko Fujimori and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

Voters are getting ready to head to the polls. While, Fujimori is leading in the opinion polls her critics are many.

CCTV America’s Dan Collyns explains.

It is the third and final march against the candidacy of Keiko Fujimori before presidential elections this Sunday.

Polls show that Keiko Fujimori has a lead of some six percent and she’s the favorite to win the election run-off against the 77-year-old economist Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

But there are thousands of people are totally opposed to her candidacy.

The reason is because she’s the daughter of Alberto Fujimori, the autocratic former president who governed Peru in the 1990s and is now serving a 25-year jail term for directing death squads, corruption, and bribing the press.

The election is divided between two camps, pro and anti-Fujimori supporters. Whoever wins the election, Fujimori with a majority in congress will still be a political force in the region.
