Four Chinese volunteers live 180 days in simulated environment

Space holds many mysteries. And scientists in their never-ceasing efforts to go deeper into the unknown are looking into how humans can survive a long, drawn-out space mission.

China is looking for answers. It begins with four volunteers, in a 180-day survival experiment in a capsule.

CCTV’s Jin Yingqiao reports.

The half year challenge begins potentially a rehearsal for a future space trip.

In the 370-square meter hermetic module, the team, three men and one woman, works on the three essentials to survival: oxygen, water, and food.

One big challenge is washing without water and keeping in shape is another challenge.

The experiment is designed and carried out jointly by 16 Chinese and overseas scientific and technological institutes, aiming to provide crucial data for the exploration of planets.
