Terror attacks devastate Turkey's tourism industry

Tuesday’s attack at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport was the latest in a string of suicide and car bombings across Turkey this year.

The seemingly random violence has made residents apprehensive that this may be their new reality.

CCTV’s Stephanie Freid reported this story from Istanbul, Turkey.

In the aftermath of the airport attack, Istanbul is somber, and locals are reconciled to the grim situation.

“We accept our new reality which is sadly the way it is right now,” an Istanbul resident said. “Expecting to have an attack in the Metro or in the airport, we’re just trying not to be afraid and continue with our daily routine.”

But the daily routine has derailed for at least 10 percent of the country’s population.

It should be high season in Turkey at this time but business is bad and entrepreneurs are hurting.

Turkey’s tourism industry is in crisis as wary travelers cancel reservations. Hotels and restaurants are slashing prices and offering deals but the incentives are not enough to lure frightened tourists.
