Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets of London to protest against the outcome of last week’s Brexit referendum, which could ultimately see Britain leave the European Union.

CCTV’s Richard Bestic reports most are calling for a policy u-turn that will see the referendum result reversed.

This march on Parliament brings to a close a tumultuous week in British politics amid an atmosphere of crisis.

The Bank of England governor Mark Carney says he is doing all he can to minimize the impact of Brexit on the economy, with a policy of monetary easing and a hint that interest rates could be reduced to zero percent.

The protestors at Saturday’s March for Europe people here want a second referendum, saying the electorate didn’t realize the full impact that Brexit would have.

However, this march takes place against a backdrop of political upheaval, with a leadership crisis in both the party of government and the official opposition.

Not to mention, the UK has not even begun difficult negotiations that will ultimately decide its new relationship with the European Union.
