The Heat: Madeleine Albright on China–US Relations

The Heat

She was the first woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of State and at the time the highest-ranking woman in the U.S. government.

Before Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton, there was Madeleine Albright.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright returned from China, where she met with Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong.

The two women discussed the importance of China-U.S. ties and areas of cooperation including cultural exchanges.

Albright has dedicated much of her professional life to diplomacy.

She was sworn in as the 64th Secretary of State in 1997, served as the U.S. permanent representative to the United Nations and was a member of President Clinton’s Cabinet and National Security Council.

And she’s the author of four books including her autobiography, “Madam Secretary.”
