Nice: Social media captures many angles of terror

Nice after the attackTarubi Wahid Mosta’s hauniting photo of the empty streets of Nice only a few hours after the Bastille Day truck attack.

On July 14, a Tunisian man drove a truck through crowds celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, killing 84 people and wounding 202 others. Many festival goers had their cell phones and shared their video and images of before, during, and after the attack. These are just a few we have collected.

These images by @haileyhellblond caught the immediate aftermath from her hotel and on the street. She was on a European holiday from
from Ft. Lauderdale, FL.


Lorena Rodriguez (@LoreVonRo) captured crowds on the move as the first sirens sounded blocks away.


After the attack happened, police immediately instructed the crowd to seek shelter inside. Ben Terry (benterry86) shared frightened festival goers waiting out the alarm in a local convenience store.


Press TV was the first to share cell phone footage of the actual truck heading into the crowd – both from above, and the street. Original source of the footage has not been disclosed.


Photographer Tarubi Wahid Mosta chose not to post videos of the event. Rather, he shared haunting images of objects left behind after the streets cleared.
